Safelite AutoGlass General Manager Steve Parker Wins Fourth Annual "People Powered Leadership" Award
LAS VEGAS – Jan. 27, 2014 - Steve Parker, general manager for the Las Vegas and Honolulu markets at www.safelite.com®, was recently awarded the Fourth Annual “People Powered Leadership” Award. Introduced in 2010, this award honors leaders who embody Safelite’s “blogsafelite.com/index.php/site/full_blog/elevating_safelites_people_first_philosophy” philosophy, which has four cornerstones: leadership, focus, talent, and caring. The award is designed to reinforce the company’s belief that great leaders will help grow the business to become the natural choice for vehicle glass repair and replacement services.
Parker has 36 years in the vehicle glass industry, including 26 years in management. After Safelite® introduced the “People Powered” strategy and provided leadership training for all managers in 2009, Parker began a four-year story of personal transformation that inspires not only his management team and employees, but also his peers throughout the company.
Through this leadership training, Parker was challenged to improve his management style and to alternate his styles based on the situation and the team. The results of his efforts are clear. During the past few years, his employee engagement score has steadily climbed from a low 59 percent in 2010 to 80 percent in 2013.
Engaged employees directly tie to customer service. His Las Vegas market has been in the top 10 for the company’s Net Promoter System (NPS) scores – a system for measuring customer service – for the last three years. Additionally, Parker was also recognized on a national scale when he was honored with one of the world’s premier business awards, for 2013 Customer Service Manager of the Year.
In addition to traveling between his two markets, Parker volunteers countless hours to the Annual Safelite® Challenge fundraiser held each year in Las Vegas. He demonstrates by example that caring makes you a better leader and a better person.
“Steve’s personal transformation is truly inspiring,” said Natalie Crede, Safelite’s senior vice president of HR and leadership development. “He’s fully embraced our People Powered, Customer Driven strategies, and has recognized that his leadership style needs to continuously evolve. We not only congratulate Steve on a job well done, but also thank him for his contribution to our success.”
