Several days before this installation I received a phone call from the Dearborn Heights, MI location. They claimed that the windshield they had was scratched so they ordered a second one. The second one came in and was also scratched. Supposedly they needed to order a third one and that meant my windshield installation was delayed about a week from the first scheduled appointment. My first appointment was cancelled.
My car is a secondary vehicle which I don't drive daily. On the morning of the installation date I took the car out of storage and drove it to my work. I received a call about 15 minutes before the appointment time and the worker asked me to bring my vehicle to the shop for the repair because it was "a two man job" and they only send out one man on service calls. This was not feasible since I was at work. I asked the worker to come out as promised and assess the situation when he got there. The worker came to my place of employment looked at the car and said he wasn't comfortable that he could do the job by himself. This was my second appointment, still no work done. I was forced to set up a date to bring the car into the Dearborn Heights, MI location for the job and this delayed me over a week.
On the morning of the third appointment I took the day off of work and drove the car into the Dearborn Heights location as instructed. After about half an hour, the worker told me he couldn't do the installation because the windshield they had in stock WAS SCRATCHED. I thought I was being pranked. The worker had the audacity to tell me that it wasn't his fault and his manager was not around to discuss this matter. He told me his business would order a new windshield ASAP, send out a two man team to perform the installation so I would not be further inconvenienced and he referred me to the Southgate, MI location.
Two days later I received a phone call from the Southgate, MI Safelite. They told me they were unable to send out a two man team and I must bring the car to them to have the installation done. Once again, I thought I was being pranked. I set up the appointment with this second location, took another morning off work and brought my car in to Southgate, MI Safelite. I dropped the vehicle off to a male worker who told me my car would be done in about two hours but he suggested I give them three hours just to be certain. I was told they would call me as soon as my car was completed. Four and a half hours later, NO CALL. I called the location and they told me they had just finished.
I am not a windshield expert, but it appears to be installed properly. At this point I feel comfortable saying, I would never use this company again and I would steer anyone away from it if asked. They are smiles and polite but they can't deliver on what they promise. Defective windshields, unable to do the work when promised and unable to do certain jobs remotely as they advertise. They failed on just about everything.
