NASCAR + Safelite? It’s a match made in heaven. We’re lucky enough to partner with some pretty great drivers, and we are so excited to introduce Ben Rhodes! Ben is the 2014 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion, rookie of the year and most popular driver – and this year, he’ll be driving the No. 27 Safelite AutoGlass Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series!

We are thrilled to be able to support Ben through the 2017 season, and hope we can root him on to some exciting races and some wins.

To get to know him a little better, we were lucky enough to sit down with Ben and ask him some questions. Check them out below and be sure to keep checking back all season long for more NASCAR-inspired content.

Is there a specific race you’re looking most forward to this year? Why? I’m really excited for Iowa Speedway. I’ve won there in the past in the NASCAR K&N East Series and raced there many times. It has become a familiar place for me and NASCAR has some of the best fans in Iowa.

What’s your favorite track or speedway to race on? I really like the super speedways —Daytona and Talladega. That type of racing is all new to me but I’ve performed well with it and I love the challenge.

Besides your hometown of Louisville, what’s your favorite city to race in? That’s tough! I’d say Las Vegas is my favorite. I love the climate and scenery of the desert, and the city isn’t too bad either. My family always goes with me and we stay on the strip. This makes for great family time in a unique environment.

We know you achieved your pilot’s license this year! What’s more thrilling: racing or flying? Hahaha, good question! Racing is definitely more of a thrill, although, I haven’t been with anybody to teach me aerobatics yet so I’ve only been upright the whole time in an airplane. Maybe if I learn aerobatics I’ll change my answer.

What makes the Safelite AutoGlass Toyota Tundra special? I think it’s the people. Everybody I’ve met from Safelite has a winning attitude, and when Safelite comes to the racetrack, it makes the environment much better. Our whole Safelite AutoGlass Toyota team feels the support each and every race weekend. I know it means a lot to my crew!

You finished 14th last year in your first year in the truck series! What will it take to get into the top 10 this year? This year we just need to be consistent. We’ve had great speed from the drop of the green flag at Daytona, kicking off our season, but we’ve also had some bad luck. We already should have some wins, but if we keep doing what we are doing, the wins will take care of themselves.

When you’re not behind the wheel, what are you typically doing? When I’m not behind the wheel, you will usually catch me doing events in my hometown, Louisville, Kentucky, or up in Sandusky, Ohio, at our race shop, ThorSport Racing. But when I’m not doing those things I really enjoy working on my project car, a 1971 VW Beetle, as well as boxing, getting more time and experience as a pilot, and just spending time with my family.
