The Safelite AutoGlass team in Harrisburg has been partnering with their local Make-A-Wish chapter for 6 years and has contributed around $60,000 over the course of the relationship… most recently an impact grant of $20,000.

A caring heart and community involvement are important to leaders at Safelite AutoGlass, which holds annual fundraising events for charitable organizations. Through these efforts, Safelite is able to donate $20,000 to 10 separate charities, spread across each of its 10 regions.

Our Mid-Atlantic region chose the Make-a-Wish Philadelphia, Northern Delaware & Susquehanna Valley chapter to receive its $20,000 donation.

Safelite AutoGlass Regional Vice President Jon Laski and District Leader Kirk Reed recently presented the check to Make-a-Wish.

During the meeting, Make-A-Wish CEO Dennis Herron stressed that “Wishes are more than just a nice thing. And they are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved – wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. The impact varies. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic. And still others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy.”

Halle Middleton, a 13-year-old wish child was also there. She recently had her wish granted to visit Paris. “What an inspiration she is to not only children, but adults,” Reed said. “She is full of life, encouragement, and personal gratitude to everyone involved in making a wish come true. She explained how her wish gave her hope and something to look forward to as she went through grueling chemotherapy regimens. I am happy to report that she is in full remission!”

“We are thankful for the opportunity that Safelite has given us to impact our local organizations and communities,” Reed added. “The impact grant does just that…it impacts. It impacts not only the recipient’s organization, but our own associates that recognize the gift of giving and not expecting anything in return.”
