Safelite Recognized by CIO Magazine on CIO 100
COLUMBUS, Ohio – June 1, 2011 IDG's CIO magazine today announces Safelite AutoGlass® as a recipient of the 2011 CIO 100. The 24th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

Safelite AutoGlass® is the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services offering mobile services to 95 percent of the country in addition to its nearly 400 retail stores. The company developed a sophisticated scheduling software linked to technicians’ handheld devices to better coordinate appointment times. In addition, technicians’ handheld devices are loaded with customized applications such as guided workflow, real-time work order notification and statusing, directions, credit card and pre-inspection automation.
Finally, as a part of this initiative, Safelite AutoGlass® also developed the Technician Profile email, containing the name, brief bio, credentials and photograph of the technician who will perform the service. The email, which is sent the night before or the morning of the service, also provides the estimated time of service and location as a confirmation. The tool provides an additional level of comfort and peace of mind for customers.

The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100.
