Safelite Expands Availability in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, MO - Safelite AutoGlass®, the nation’s leading vehicle glass repair and replacement company, has relocated its Kansas City SuperCenter, opening December 17, 2010.
The new warehouse is located at 1820 N. Corrington Ave. (Interstate 435 & Front Street). The space will allow Safelite® to expand its availability in the area as the new facility is 36,000 square feet compared to the former location, which was 18,000 square feet. This will allow the inventory to double, expanding both product quantity and assortment.
The SuperCenter employs 35 to 40 staff, including warehouse associates, glass technicians, customer service representatives, and managers. There is space to expand the workforce based on market growth.
"This is an excellent location for an auto glass facility with easy access and visibility from Interstate 435," said Joel Dannen, general manager.
The new store is part of the company’s overall growth strategy. Beginning in 2009, Safelite® invested $38 million to support growth and has made similar investments in 2010. In addition to opening the new store, the company has also:
- Opened six new warehouses, expanded five and relocated more than a dozen other existing warehouses for added inventory
- Remodeled 34 stores
- Opened its second-largest distribution center in Ontario, California and its largest distribution center in Braselton, Ga.
- Expanded inventory to allow for cross-border deliveries with Canada
- Opened its third national contact center, creating 500 immediate jobs with the potential for up to 1,000 in Phoenix, Ariz.
