Safelite AutoGlass President & CEO Tom Feeney Named Columbus CEO Magazine’s 2016 “CEO of the Year” Finalist
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Safelite AutoGlass® since 2008, was honored by Columbus CEO Magazine as a top four finalist for the annual CEO of the Year Award for the second year running.
In this sixth year of the Central Ohio CEO Survey, Columbus CEO Magazine started with 40 nominees – 10 each in four CEO categories of large for-profit, small for-profit, large nonprofit, and small nonprofit. The nominees were suggested by area chambers of commerce and organizations that work with the nonprofit community. Surveys were sent to top executives throughout central Ohio, inviting them to vote for CEO of the Year in each of the four categories.
The 2016 CEO of the Year prize for large for-profits went to White Castle’s Lisa Ingram. AEP’s Nick Akins and Crane Group’s Tanny Crane rounded out the list.
Feeney has shepherded the auto glass and claims management company to unprecedented growth. This year, as in 2015, Safelite is on track to report record-setting sales. About 13,000 associates are currently employed at Safelite, a number expected to go up in part thanks to a call center opening next year in New Mexico. He introduced a “People Powered, Customer Driven” strategy for Safelite. It’s taken off: Business has more than doubled in the time since.
With a new purpose statement introduced this year, the company aims to make a difference and bring unexpected happiness to people’s everyday lives.” To that end, Safelite is providing improved digital services to customers and insurers. Through its business units, Safelite expects to serve more than 10 million customers by year’s end.
Additionally Feeney was recognized as the American Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year in 2015 and is president emeritus of the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.
“I am humbled by this honor,” Feeney said. “I owe it all to our talented people, our strong supply partners, and of course our loyal customers and clients. I see this as a reflection of our ongoing partnership, and I look forward to taking it to new heights.”
