Safelite AutoGlass® Ontario, Calif.-Based Distribution Center Employees

11-15-2013

ONTARIO, Calif. – Nov. 15, 2013 - Safelite AutoGlass®, which opened a distribution center in Ontario in 2009, has proven to be a strong community partner to San Bernardino County. Corporate social responsibility, including charitable support, is a key focus of the company culture. In 2013, Safelite® and its Ontario-based employees have donated $16,888 to charity and 336 hours of volunteer work.

Most recently, Safelite’s Ontario employees participated in the company’s National Giving Campaign, an annual program that encourages associates from all areas of the business to raise funds for the charities of their choosing. Employees may get involved by donating funds to charities nationwide and participating in special fundraising events coordinated by each market/department. Thanks to the logistical support of the United Way, funds are directed to charities of choice nationwide. In addition, associates can elect for a one-time or on-going payroll deduction over the coming year to the charities of their choice. Proudly, 100 percent of Safelite’s Ontario employees chose to give back through the payroll deduction option – for the second year in a row.

Throughout the year, Safelite’s Ontario employees have also presented a total of $4,200 in various donations to local not-for-profits, including:

·American Cancer Society
·Arthritis Association
·Boys & Girls Club
·Boys Republic
·ETA Scholarship
·Feed the Children
·Heart of Los Angeles
·Meals On Wheels
·St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
·Steven’s Hope for Children
·West End Shelter For Animals

Safelite® offers every employee an Associate Volunteer Day, which is a paid day off work to volunteer a full 8-hour day at a charity of their choice, as well as a Community Service Day, which is a coordinated effort by the local team to spend time volunteering together for a local charity. In 2013, 42 Ontario employees volunteered 8-hour days for:

·Feed the Children
·Habitat for Humanity
·United Way Kids Back Pack Program
·Promise Scholars
·Ronald McDonald Golf Tournament

Finally, the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation, the 501(c)(3) giving arm of the company aimed at supporting organizations that promote the health and well-being of families, awarded $2,000 grants to five charities of the Ontario team’s choice:

·Burn Institute Children's Camp
·Habitat for Humanity
·Ronald McDonald House
·Steven’s Hope for Children
·United Way Kids Back Pack Program

“It’s an honor to work for a company that cares about community and not only allows us, but encourages us, to give back both in our time and our dollars,” said Michael Nelson, Safelite’s distribution center manager. “I want to thank our 41 employees who have whole-heartedly participated in our charitable endeavors. We can all feel good about the positive influence it has on our friends and neighbors.”
