Safelite AutoGlass Foundation Raises $550,000 during Third Annual Charity Golf Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Oct. 7, 2014 - On October 1, 2013, the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation hosted its third annual Charity Golf Classic, welcoming approximately 175 representatives from its suppliers and business partners from across the country, with fundraising efforts totaling more than $550,000. In just three years of holding the event, Safelite has raised more than $1.5 million. Money raised will be donated to the many charitable organizations the Foundation supports nationwide.

The private event included a gala on Monday evening, connecting representatives from 22 central Ohio nonprofits with guests of the event, including:

“As a result of this event, we can give back our local community on a grander scale in the form of the annual Safelite AutoGlass Foundation Impact Grant Program,” said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Safelite AutoGlass.

Last year’s Golf Classic funded six $25,000 Impact Grants and one $50,000 Impact Grant. The $50,000 Impact Grant went to Habitat for Humanity Mid-Ohio in support of the ‘Home of Hope’ Blitz Build in April, which built a home for a family in need in just five days. Other Impact Grant examples include the purchase of passenger vans for the Boys and Girls Clubs and Big Brothers and Big Sisters to support their transportation needs as well as support for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and LifeCare Alliance in getting healthy meals to those in need.

“I sincerely thank everyone who has made this possible – from our Safelite family that worked so hard to plan the event to our suppliers and business partners who attended and contributed to our cause,” Feeney added.

Since its inception, the Safelite AutoGlass Foundation has donated $5.5 million to non-profit organizations.
