Safelite AutoGlass Foundation celebrates giving back with 7th Annual Charity Golf Classic
COLUMBUS, OH – Oct. 7, 2017 – On Oct. 2–3, 2017, the Safelite AutoGlass Foundation gathered with sponsors and representatives from Central Ohio charitable organizations to celebrate the 7th Annual Safelite Charity Golf Classic.
Since 2011, the two-day event that includes dinner, golf, and partnerships, has helped raise funds for the Foundation’s Impact Grant Program. This year, the Foundation raised more than $1.1 million that will benefit charitable organizations in Central Ohio and across the country in supporting the health and well-being of families.
For a grant to be impactful, it must carry some weight. At Safelite, the Impact Grant Program provides non-budgeted gifts up to $25,000 that allow a charitable organization to make a significant impact in their community. Last year, this program was able to award nearly $800,000 to more than 30 charitable organizations in Central Ohio and around the country to boost their meaningful contributions. The Foundation is able to provide these grants thanks to company fundraisers and the generosity of people and business partners. That’s in addition to the Foundation’s more routine gift-giving throughout the year.
“At Safelite, giving back is in our DNA, and helps us make a difference in people’s everyday lives,” said Safelite Group President and CEO Tom Feeney. “The Charity Golf Classic provides an opportunity to recognize the sponsors who help financially support the communities where we live and work. It also encourages the broader business community to share success by paying it forward.”
This year, more than 40 sponsors attended the event, along with 30 representatives from area charitable organizations. The event provides an opportunity for the sponsors to learn firsthand from these organizations about how their donations help the community.
The 2017 event also included a celebration of Randy Randolph, the retiring chairman of the Safelite AutoGlass Foundation. To thank Randy for his leadership and commitment to helping the community, the Foundation donated $100,000 to The Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus to develop The James R. Randolph Summer Fellowship Chair. The goal of this new program is to help eliminate summer learning loss, the number one contributor to the academic achievement gap between low income and middle and upper income youth.
“Getting involved and giving back is the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced,” Randy said. “My appreciation and gratitude for the caring culture of Safelite along with the generous contribution to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus in my name is difficult to put into words. Being part of the impactful work of the Foundation has been an honor and a pleasure.”
