Jackson to Compete in Best of Belron®
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Safelite AutoGlass® vehicle glass technician and Columbus, Ohio resident Mark Jackson is headed to Paris to compete in the biennial international Best of Belron® competition. Due to unforeseen circumstances, 2010 U.S. Best of Belron champion Brad Wilmoth is unable to compete. Jackson will represent Safelite AutoGlass® in his place.
Begun in 2000, by Safelite® Group parent company Belron S.A., Best of Belron® is a competition designed to demonstrate the company's commitment to safety, quality and efficiency in vehicle glass repair and replacement. Taking place on June 9 and 10 at La Grande Hall de la Villette, the 2010 competition will feature technicians from 27 countries competing for the title of best Belron® technician in the world.
Jackson is the 2010 U.S. Best of Belron® runner-up. He won the windshield competition and tied for first place in the knowledge scores; taking home a $5000 prize, and earning the right to an alternate spot in the international competition. He has spent the last five months training for the event. He now heads to Paris, where he'll be tested on job quality, safety and efficiency while demonstrating windshield and body glass replacement, windshield repair and customer service. At stake are a year's salary and the title of best Belron® technician in the world.
"Best of Belron® is an important event for our company. It's an opportunity to showcase the high-quality work our technicians perform and recognize the best of the best," said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Safelite® Group. "We're extremely proud of Mark and excited about the upcoming competition. We know he'll represent us well."
Since joining Safelite AutoGlass® in 2005, Jackson has worked as a mobile technician, providing customers with on-site vehicle glass repair and replacement services. In the months since the U.S. Best of Belron® competition, he has managed an intense training schedule while still working in the field.
"Getting the chance to compete is very exciting. I will do my best to represent Safelite® and show the world the quality service we provide," said Jackson. "I'm very proud to be involved in this event. It's really a rare opportunity to work for a company that focuses on and rewards quality workmanship in such a spectacular way."
