Hundreds of Employees Participate in Triathlon
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hundreds of Safelite AutoGlass® employees and their guests will descend upon Las Vegas on April 17th for the inaugural Safelite® triathlon and charity poker run. The event is part of the Rage Triathlon at Lake Mead.
"We chose the Las Vegas race because of our company's presence in the area through our stores and technicians," said Matt Weger, director of IT for Safelite® and event coordinator. "However, we also know Las Vegas has beautiful scenery just off the strip, a fun nightlife and mild April weather."
Participants include Gary Lubner, CEO of Belron® SA and Tom Feeney, President & CEO of Safelite AutoGlass®.
"I'm excited to participate in the run portion of the triathlon," said Tom Feeney, president and chief executive officer of Safelite AutoGlass®. "This is an opportunity for our team to come together for a great charity, and for me to take the personal step of getting healthier."
In 2009, participants raised $110,000 to benefit MaAfrika Tikkun, a charitable organization based in South Africa whose approach is to get right to the heart of destitute communities by working with orphans and vulnerable children. This year, the group hopes to double last year's results and already they've surpassed 2009 giving.
The Safelite AutoGlass® event is a precursor to the London Triathlon, where select employees will join hundreds of their coworkers from around the globe for a week of team building and raising money.
Safelite AutoGlass® has 40 employees in the Las Vegas-area.
