We're excited to welcome Harrison Burton (you may know his dad, Jeff) to Team Safelite for the 2019 NASCAR Trucks season! We sat down with Harrison to talk all things driving, family and what it means for him to join the Safelite team.

How did you get started into racing and how old were you?

A lot of my inspiration came from my dad. I grew up watching my dad race and went to my first race when I was three weeks old. Ever since I was a kid, it was my dream. I ran my first race when I was only five years old!

What’s your favorite part about racing?

My favorite part will always be the competition aspect. The amount of work you and the other drivers on the track have to put in makes it really rewarding. When I’m on the track, it feels like me and my team against the world, and I love that. It’s such a tough sport to excel at and you have to put in a lot of work to be great. I love the grind and working hard to become a better racer.

Have you had any scary moments or wrecks?

I think every race car driver has had scary wrecks. The funny thing about racing is that you’re never scared until after. During the wreck you’re just trying to drive out of it. You really have to have a never quit attitude on the track.

What makes you excited to go to work every day?

The opportunity to win is the biggest thing that gets me up in the morning and keeps me motivated. I have a shot at winning a lot of races this year and winning a championship. Taking advantage of that opportunity is really important to me. All of the things I had dreamed of when I was a kid I have the opportunity to do this year – it’s really a dream come true.

If you weren’t a NASCAR driver, what would your profession be?

I wanted to be a lot of things like firefighter, be in the Army or a cop. Ultimately, I decided race car driver was my calling.

Favorite race track?

I have a lot of favorites. I like Bristol because of the history and I typically run pretty well there. My second favorite is Homestead Miami Speedway.

How do you prepare for a race?

I like to relax and keep my mind off of the race. I’ve already done all of my prep to get ready so I like to go in with a relaxed mindset. I’ll usually hang out with my mom and dad before a race and just chat with the guys.

What does it mean to you to have such a supportive family?

I wouldn’t be able to do it without my family. They’ve traveled all around the country with me so I could learn to race. It’s super cool to know my family will always be behind me. They’re also great driving coaches and are able to help out in that capacity as well.

What does it mean to you to have Safelite as a sponsor?

Safelite is such a great company. They’re always really involved and supportive with bringing out employees to the races. It’s a huge honor and it’s really cool to be a part of their team. I’ve had the Safelite jingle stuck in my head for a while, too!

Harrison's season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on February 15th. We're looking forward to a great year and seeing him behidn the wheel of the No. 18 Safelite Toyota Tundra!
