Safelite Group President & CEO Tom Feeney recognized for giving back

06-29-2017

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Giving back is a must, for both Safelite® Group President and CEO Tom Feeney and the organization he heads. So much so for Feeney himself that he dedicates his time and attention to local charitable organizations whose missions he supports. Because of their fundraising efforts, Feeney, Huntington Bank President and CEO Stephen Steinour, and Columbus philanthropist Mary Lazarus received the Mel Schottenstein Leadership Award from the Community Shelter Board for their teamwork and fundraising efforts.

The three joined together in a campaign to raise more than $30 million to change lives for neighbors in heartbreaking circumstances, and set them on the path from homeless to home.

“It was my pleasure to work with Stephen and Mary to help such a deserving cause,” said President and CEO Tom Feeney. “Making a difference in our community is always a team effort so it’s important that we all recognize the role we can play in that journey. We need to work together to create a culture known for helping those who need encouragement and support.”

Although an undertaking of this magnitude may have appeared impossible to pull off, this trio deeply cares about Columbus and the people who live here. So they didn’t let the hard work and dedication required to make a difference stop them. Knowing that the heart of the Columbus community is large and generous, they were confident they could raise the kind of donation that would make big changes possible.

Community Shelter Board CEO Michelle Heritage says she is especially thankful when community leaders like Tom, Stephen and Mary step up and use their connections to full advantage for a greater good.

“We’ve chosen our award recipients not only for their dedication to our cause, but for their commitment to supporting many other charitable giving efforts in our community as well,” Michelle explained. “Leaders like Tom and his dedication to doing as much as he can for others makes our community that much better and stronger,” she said. “They strengthen the fabric of community in every possible.”
